An act to increase youth-driver safety.

Be it enacted by the Youth Model Legislature of the State of New Jersey that the parent or legal guardian of a minor receiving a drivers permit be required to accompany their child for two hours of the six hour driving lesson.

Section I:

All driving schools are required to bring the parent or guardian along in the car for two hours.

Section II:

These two hours may be distributed at the parent's and driving school's discretion.

Section III:

Driving schools must report any parent that fails to meet this requirement to the state. Parents will be ticked accordingly.

Section IV:

Driving schools who violate this law by failing to report any violations of this law by parent or guardian to the state and/or by failing to provide the ability for the parent to accompany their child shall be fined $1,000 for first offense, $5,000 for second offense and a third offense will result in termination of the driving school.

Statement of Intent: The purpose of this Bill is to increase the safety of minors by educating parents on how to teach their child how to drive.

Effective Date: This Bill shall take effect ninety (90) days after being enacted.

Financial Statement: Because finances are the responsibility of state certified driving schools, this bill will cost no more than $5,000 for rewriting and redistribution of law books.
