An act relating to a new appeal system for the writing assignment grading policy.
Be it enacted by the Youth Model Legislature of the State of New Jersey that a grade on a writing assignment appealed by the author, must be read and graded by two separate teachers in that course department.
Section I:
Any high school course essay grade, appealed by the author, must be read and graded, independently, by two teachers from that course department.
Section II:
The essay in question must exceed an estimated 400 words or be at least 5% of the students final grade.
Section III:
The final grade of an essay will be the average of the two grades. If the essay grade is still in question after the second teacher has graded it, a third teacher from that course department will read and grade the essay. The final grade of the essay would be the average of the three grades.
Section IV:
The name of the author of the essay must be withheld for a less subjective grade.
| |
| Statement of Intent: The purpose of this Bill is to give high school students a less subjective grade on essays and other written assignments.
Effective Date: This Bill shall take effect the following school year after being enacted.
Financial Statement: Because no money is needed to carry out this Bill, $5,000 will be needed to rewrite and redistribute the law book.
