An act relating to designating heaters to be checked on an annual basis before the heating season begins in all New Jersey Public Schools.

Be it enacted by the Youth Model Legislature of the State of New Jersey that New Jersey state public school’s heating systems be evaluated annually, one month prior to the heating season in every classroom.

Section I:

The maintenance staff at each school shall be instructed to run and evaluate each radiator in every class room prior to the need for heat.

Section II:

Any problems found within the heating system will need to be reported to the heating company the school employs.

Section III:

Additionally, the head of the maintenance staff at each school will file 15.a form with the state, which will detail the condition of each schools heating system. This will enable the state to monitor the heating systems at each school.

Section IV:

All New Jersey state public schools shall begin their annual evaluation 19.of their heating system beginning in the 2010-2011 school year.

     
Statement of Intent: The purpose of this Bill is to ensure every child attending a 24.New Jersey Public school is comfortable in his of her learning environment.

Effective Date: This Bill shall take effect at the start of the 2010-2011 school year.

Financial Statement: Since the head member each school’s maintenance staff is required to understand how to operate their school’s heating system, and because all schools are already in contracts with heating companies any problems that may be found will be dealt with through each school’s individual contract, therefore the cost of this bill is $0.
