An act relating to the right of seventeen-year-olds to vote in primary elections.
Be it enacted by the Youth Model Legislature of the State of New Jersey that all seventeen-year-olds are allowed to vote in primary elections if they will be 18 by the time of the general election.
Section I:
Seventeen year olds will be allowed to vote in primary elections as long as they are 18 before the general election occurs.
Section II:
This bill only pertains to state and local elections.
Statement of Intent: The purpose of this Bill is to encourage the participation in government among people who are seventeen and who will be eighteen and will be eligible to participate in a corresponding general election.
Effective Date: This Bill shall take effect immediately.
Financial Statement: 5,000 for rewriting and redistribution of the law books
