An act relating to retakes of driving tests.

Be it enacted by the Youth Model Legislature of the State of New Jersey that once a person reaches the age of 65 years old, that said person must retake the written and road portions of the New Jersey driving test.

Section I:

When retaking the written portion of the test, the person must score at least an 80% or higher which is the same standard that a teenager is held to.

Section II:

The person can only retake the written and road tests twice and then they must wait a year until trying again.

Section III:

After turning 65, the person can not go five years with their renewed license before having to take the tests again in order to keep their license.

Statement of Intent: The purpose of this Bill is to make the roads of New Jersey safer by making sure that every one on the roads is capable of living up to the standards set by the State of New Jersey.

Effective Date: This Bill shall take effect 1 year and six months after being enacted in order to give everyone enough of a notice in order to retake their tests.

Financial Statement: The DMV will have to reprint the written tests in bigger fonts so the people can read it. The cost of this will not be that high because there is also a charge to take the test in the DMV so it will come close to breaking even. It will cost $5,000 to rewrite and redistribute the law book. So the total cost will be a little over $5,000.
