An act relating to the psychological health of educational professionals.

Be it enacted by the Youth Model Legislature of the State of New Jersey that all educational professionals receive a psychological evaluation by a certified psychologist that will be received by their employing educational institution.

Section I:

Be it defined that an “educational institution” is any institution dedicated to education.

Section II:

Be it defined that a “psychological evaluation” is an examination into a person's mental health by a mental health professional such as a psychologist or a psychiatrist.

Section III:

Prior to the employment of an educational professional, the said professional must provide their prospective employer, the employing educational institution, with a psychological evaluation. The professional will be unable to secure employment without first providing their prospective employer a psychological evaluation.

Section IV:

The psycological evaluation should be conducted by any practicing certified psychologist in New Jersey. The psychological evaluation given prior to employment must be no older than 12 months.

Section V:

Every five years after employment and every five years thereafter, educational professionals must procure a new psychological evaluation.

     
Statement of Intent: The purpose of this Bill is to provide educational institutions with more information on the mental health of its employees and a more stable environment for students in the classroom.

Effective Date: This Bill shall take effect on July 10, 2010.

Financial Statement: The educational professionals shall procure the psychological evaluations, and therefore the only cost to the government will be for the reprinting law books.
